Akbar Nawab, M.D.

Dr. Akbar Nawab is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he played
collegiate soccer.. After completing his undergraduate studies he attended the University
Of Louisville School Of Medicine and graduated in 1996. Remaining at the University
of Louisville, Dr. Nawab finished his surgical internship in 1997. Over the next
year he worked in the Orthopaedic Bioengineering Lab during a fellowship at U of
L. In June 2002 he completed his orthopaedic residency. During his residency he
was the recipient of the Kuntscher Best Teaching Chief Resident award for 2002.
Upon completion of his residency he proceeded to a fellowship in the area of Sports
Medicine and Arthroscopy at Louisville with Dr. Dave Caborn.
Dr Nawab joined the practice in September 2002. He devotes his time to the University
of Louisville where he is the team physician for the Women’s Volleyball team. He
also covers Central High school football, as well as the Louisville Fire.
