Dr. Mark Smith is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. After attending Ballard high
school he went on to graduate from Centre College, and was a member of Phi Beta
Kappa. Returning home, he continued his studies at the University Of Louisville
School Of Medicine, graduating in1987. Following graduation he completed his internship
in general surgery as well as his orthopaedic residency at the University of Louisville.
In 1992, Dr. Smith participated in a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University
of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Mark Smith joined the practice in 1993. He continues to devote his time at the
University Of Louisville, and is currently the team physician for Women’s Basketball.
He also provides coverage for; Pleasure Ridge Park High school’s athletic events,
Bellarmine College athletics, and Louisville Fire football. He is a member of the
AAOS, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Arthroscopy Association
of North America.
Dr Smith has a special interest in sports injuries and difficulties of the shoulder.
