Dr. R. John Ellis, Jr., a native of Louisville, graduated from the University Of
Louisville in 1973 and U of L School of Medicine in 1977. He did an orthopaedic
surgery residency at the University Of Cincinnati from 1977-1982. After his residency,
he completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the University Of Oklahoma in 1982.
Dr Ellis was a letter winner for Basketball at the University Of Louisville from
1970-1972. He has been a team physician for the university since 1983 and with the
men’s basketball team for the past 4 years. Along with covering numerous other athletic
events, both professional and amateur, he has been the team physician of Butler
high school since 1983, assists his partners in covering Louisville Fire football,
and Bellarmine College athletics.
Dr Ellis has been apart of the practice since 1983.
