Interstate 265 ramp to be closed beginning Sept. 25

Interstate 265 ramp to be closed beginning Sept. 25

Louisville, KY (Sept. 15, 2017) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a ramp closure on Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) at KY 3084 (Old Henry Road) in Jefferson County. The exit ramp from I-265 North to Old Henry Road (Exit 29) will be closed for three weeks beginning Sept. 25 to allow for ramp realignment.

This work is part of an improvement project at the I-265/Old Henry Road interchange. The project involves building additional turning lanes on the northbound and southbound exit ramps as well as improving left turn storage capacity on Old Henry Road.

The exit ramp from I-265 North to Old Henry Road is scheduled to close at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25. The ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16. Motorists should follow the signed detour via I-265 North to KY 146 (Exit 30) to I-265 South and then access the ramp to Old Henry Road.

The original contract included plans for a dual left turn lane and a single right turn lane at the ramp from I-265 North to Old Henry Road. Due to current and proposed development on Old Henry Road, an additional right turn lane is being constructed. The alignment of the exit ramp must now be shifted to the west to provide improved roadway geometry and avoid impacting overhead power transmission lines.

This additional work has extended the project completion to December 2017. E & B Paving Inc. of Clarksville, Ind. is performing the construction at a cost of $4.5 million.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Visit for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at and .
